I’d like to draw your attention now to two elections, one passed, one ongoing that needs your attention!
First the one that needs your attention: The Four Horsemen, fantastic sculptors of such lines as DC Universe Classics and Masters of the Universe Classics, are currently running the 2009 edition of their yearly poll, FANtastic Exclusive, which allows fans to choose which exclusive toy (from their own proprietary lines) the Horsemen will be manufacturing this year.
This year’s contest is running a little differently from years past, in that the first round allows fans to vote directly on characters (like that neat looking fella at the top of this post) instead of on a line first. Check it out and vote now!
As for the election that already happened, noted toy reviewer Michael Crawford held his second annual Poppies Awards, honoring the best toys of the year based on a polling of many notable industry figures, a pretty prestigious gathering of which I was happy to be a part. I can’t say the final results overlapped with my own choices in all the categories (nope, I’m not tellin’), but it’s interesting to see what the collective wisdom came up with.

There are a lot of compelling reasons to go to New York Comic Con from February 6-8 (your first chance to pick up the Masters of the Universe Classics Faker, Your chance to snag Tonner’s exclusive Forging Excalibur Lara Croft figure, panels for some of our favorite TV shows like Robot Chicken and the Venture Bros.) but there’s only one compelling reason that will help us not make total asses of ourselves on stage.
ToyFare is hosting a panel on Saturday! Here’s the info: Twisted Toyfare Theatre: Behind the Stupidity
Join the writers of ToyFare Magazine’s satirical comic strip Twisted ToyFare Theatre for an inside look at how they get toys into all those compromising positions. Ask questions, watch TTT animations, and answer TTT trivia for a chance to win prizes! Brought to you by the editorial staff at ToyFare Magazine and Wizard Entertainment!
Saturday
5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
1A17
This is going to be the biggest TTT panel yet, if you’ve seen us before. In addition to current ToyFare employees like myself and TJ, current plans (subject to change) call for the panel to include such alumni luminaries as Jon Gutierrez, Sean T. Collins and ol’ sideburns himself, Zach Oat!
If you’re going to be in the New York City area that weekend, please stop by and help us not look like total tools. We’ll thank you with swag. Oh, and spread the word!
